The story

The Soap and the Sea is a tale for and by people who love the ocean.

We are on a mission to make soap little ambassadors for our enormous ocean, and rally a community of Ocean Friends as we go. We want to contribute to the conversation about ocean conservation and amplify the voices of those who care and who are doing something to help.

We believe sharing stories of hope raises awareness and empowers people to protect the ocean. This is a journey of sharing and learning together. On this journey, our route will cross paths with characters both real and fictional: surfers and explorers, swimmers and scientists, whales and mermaids….

The ocean is a powerful source of wonder, inspiration and nourishment for our planet and for our souls. It is also fragile and vulnerable. If we could all stop to wonder at the magic of the ocean, and see that it is in danger, maybe we all might want to do something to help protect it. However small.

We commit to giving fifty percent of profits to Ocean conservation via our dedicated philanthropic sheltered fund, The Wishful Squid.

The BioVidaSana certification guarantees the traceability and integrity of certified organic and natural cosmetic products. All our soaps are certified organic and are labelled Category I “Ecological Cosmetic Product (Biological or Organic),” which guarantees that at least 95% of the ingredients come from organic production. They are also certified vegan which guarantees no animal ingredients or by-products are used in the manufacturing process, and that no animal testing has taken place.

Bio.inspecta is the entity for the BioVidaSana certification, created in 1983 and linked since its foundation to the Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), one of the most prestigious centres in the research of ecological production worldwide. The professional quality and prestige of bio.inspecta are widely recognized by the international market.

Cosmetics certified under the BioVidaSana standard meet all the requirements of natural and organic cosmetics:


• 100% pure and natural ingredients.
• Lack of synthetic or chemical agents.
• Not tested on animals.
• Lack of transgenic ingredients or nanoparticles.
• Not irradiated.
• Products made respecting the environment.

The ingredients and the manufacturer’s production system are submitted to the approval of the certifying body.
