“Dear Icefish,
It would be quite refreshing to have a quick swim with you.
Your affectionate friend,
Iris “
The Antarctic Icefish lives in the icy cold waters of the Southern Oceans. Icefishes don’t have haemoglobin so their blood is whitish, nearly transparent. Their gills are also white. These fish have antifreeze proteins that circulate through their bodies to keep them from freezing. A threat to icefish is climate change. Warming ocean temperatures could reduce the habitat that is suitable for this extreme cold water fish.
