Blue Whale
“The blue whale is nice and it is the largest animal on Earth. It’s one of my favorite animals. I remember reading that its heart weighed over 150kg!
It is the largest and loudest animal on Earth and is even louder than a jet engine. It has become a symbolic image of the sea, and I have used it as a motif in my works related to environmental issues, so it is personal to me.“
Icefish
“Dear Icefish,
It would be quite refreshing to have a quick swim with you.
Your affectionate friend, Iris “
Moray Eel
“I chose to draw the The Moray Eel because of the beautiful textured skin and the funny wobbly body. The Moray Eel looks so mean, but I do like them a lot. I know they are found worldwide but they feel very Mediterranean to me, I like that since I live here.“
Football fish
“The Football Fish is cute and interesting. It has a very unique way of attracting prey. It eats small fish that have gathered by shining a lure that comes out of its head. The silhouette of a lumpy animal emitting light at the end of something sticking out of the top of its head is so cool, that once I saw it, I could never forget it!“
Leopard Seal
“I was always pretty sure I wanted to draw the Leopard Seal because I like it’s character, something like an underwater dog. A fantastic, cute, Antarctic animal that sometimes can look a little scary. I like the blobby and hydrodynamic body shape too.“
Lion's Mane Jellyfish
“Find me as soon as possible, take me home under your hood and please hold me tight in your tentacles.
Your loving friend,
Iris“
Zebra Shark
“Dear Zebra Shark,
I miss zigzagging through the tropical waters with you just like old times.
With love from your friend,
Iris“
Sea Angel
“The cute way Sea Angels swim, the angelic shape of their bodies, the unexpected way they prey, all are so unique.
They are so mysterious and fascinating that it is hard to believe they exist. They’re out of this world!“
Spotted Reef Crab
“I chose to draw the Spotted Crab because of the incredible vivid pattern on its back. I love crabs in general but these ones are also walking and swimming pieces of graphic art.“
